What is it with the French?

First there was the Parkour movement (l’art du dĂ©placement), started in France where bored street yoofs do something interesting other than mug grannies and knife each other.

Then, a while ago I posted this about Alain Robert, the real life spiderman scaling buildings like Taipei 101 and the Petronas Towers without ropes or other articificial help.

And now there’s Philippe Petit, the high wire artist who on 7th August 1974, tight-roped between the Twin Towers in New York for 45 minutes and whose “Man on wire” documentary is out soon.

What’s wrong with these people? Why don’t they use buildings normally?
Is it cos they get learnt philosophy at school?
But I’m actually glad there are such weirdos like this out there.
Makes architecture so much more spicey.
Nutcakes, the lot.
